Recreation (Play) Area

Our recreation (Play) area is located in the most densely populated part of the Parish. It is part of the land included in the building of The Crescent, The Drive, and Highfields, built at various times post WWII.

The land is owned by Bath and North East Somerset Council (BaNES). Stanton Drew Parish Council (PC) pay an annual rent for the land. The PC own the equipment, maintain, inspect and insure the area.

Stanton Drew Play Area

Summer 2026 – We have seeking to raise £20,000 to add to the £10,000 that the PC has ring fenced for new recreation equipment. We also would like you to get in touch if you are able to help with the site preparation work.

Autumn 2025 – BaNES have offered a secure long term lease on the site which the PC have accepted and are in the process of sorting the legal paperwork with BaNES. This is good news as it means we have security of tenure and as such can start the process of replacing/updating the equipment.

WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE IN THE RECREATION AREA?

We are currently getting quotes for new equipment. We would welcome parishioners feedback on what they would like in the area.

Our main objectives are currently to try and get a variety of equipment to suit all ages from toddlers to age 99 years!

We hope to be able to get grants towards the equipment to match fund the money that the PC has already put aside and ring fenced for updating the area.

We may need to phase the work depending on how well our fundraising goes.

During 2019 the PC agreed to make an expression of interest to BaNES for an Asset Transfer of the land to ownership of the PC, via BaNES “Community Asset Transfer Policy”. https://www.bathnes.gov.uk/services/neighbourhoods-and-community-safety/community-asset-transfers
