Community Bus

Stanton Drew’s community bus (often referred to as “The Surgery Bus” will see a change starting the first week of November 2022. 

The round-trip bus has been running for a number of years. It was set up to give residents easy access to Chew Magna shops and Chew Stoke Drs Surgery.

It has been running on Tuesdays, but as of November 2022 it operates on Friday’s – (starting on Friday 4th November – this means no service on Tuesday 1st November). 

The PC made the changes because a review of the service, run by Filers Coaches on behalf of Stanton Drew Parish Council, identified that a change in day enabled the service to coincide with the popular Country Market in Chew Magna.

Chew Medical Practice confirmed that they can accommodate this change in days. It is hoped that providing the ability for residents to get into Chew Magna for the market will increase the number of residents using the service.

Sadly the service currently operates at a loss, the change is an effort to save the service, however if numbers do not increase the Parish Council will not be able to offer the service beyond March 2023.
