The Causeway – Postponed

Parishioners will be aware that the landslip along the Causeway has been waiting for investigation by B&NES. We will update this post as we find out details.

March 22nd 2024:

Info from B&NES: We are still determining dates with our contractor and so will not be closing w/c 25 March. Once we have the resource in place and dates confirmed, we will write to residents with details.

March 4th 2024:

B&NES have issued notice that the investigation will occur during March with the hope of remedial work taking place in the summer this year.

The Parish Council have highlighted a number of issues to B&NES, including:

Emergency Vehicles accessing if road closure in place,

Potential for a one track lane for diversion,

Additional issues if there is flooding,

Farmers access for livestock,

School drop off and pick up etc.

At the time of posting B&NES do not have a confirmed start date for the investigative works.

The investigation works are expected to require a 1 Week Closure.  However – during this closure period they anticipate that the road will only be closed from 9.30am – 3pm each day.  There will be access for Emergency Vehicles during this time but not for residents.

They will be writing to residents nearer the time to update them all.

After these works B&NES will schedule a 6-8 week closure which they hope to do during the School Holidays.  They will need to look at where to store the works vehicles. There will be access for pedestrians along the Causeway during the 6 – 8 week closure.  They are in talks with all of the emergency services.  They anticipate a “hard traffic management procedure in place”.  They will be holding a meeting with residents prior to the main closure to discuss everything fully.
